How to View Notification History
This article explains how to access the notification history for any student registration, understand what information is displayed, and how to use this feature to answer common questions from students and parents
How to View Notification History for a Registration
When students, parents, or counselors contact you with questions about communications they may or may not have received, DualEnroll makes it easy to verify exactly what was sent, when it was sent, and to whom. The Notifications feature provides a complete record of all system communications for any registration.
When to Use This Feature
The Notifications feature is helpful when:
- A parent claims they never received a consent request
- A student asks when they were notified about a required action
- You need to confirm that a communication was successfully sent
- You want to verify the contact information that received a notification
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Navigate to the Registrations Tab
From the main navigation menu, click on the Registrations tab. This displays the list of all student registrations.
Step 2: Locate the Student's Registration
Use the search and filter options to find the specific registration you need. You can search by student name, course title, or use the High School and Term filters to narrow your results.
Step 3: Open the Registration Menu
Find the registration row for the student and course you're investigating. On the right side of the row, click the ellipsis menu (the three vertical dots).
A dropdown menu will appear with several options including View, Files, History, and Notifications.
Step 4: Select "Notifications"
Click Notifications from the dropdown menu.
Step 5: Review the Notification History
The system displays a complete list of all notifications sent for this specific registration. The notification history shows:
| Column | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Step Title | The workflow step that triggered the notification (e.g., "Provide Consent," "Successful Registration") |
| Sent at | The exact date and time the notification was sent |
| Sent by | Who initiated the notification (blank for automatic system notifications) |
| To | The recipient's name, email address, or phone number |
| Subject | The subject line for emails, or "text (no subject)" for text messages |
Understanding the Notification Display
Multiple Recipients for One Step
You may see the same step listed multiple times. This is normal and indicates that:
- The notification was sent to multiple people (such as both the student and parent)
- The notification was sent via multiple channels (both email and text message)
For example, a "Provide Consent" step might show four entries: text and email notifications sent to both the student and their parent.
Clickable Subject Lines
For email notifications, the Subject column displays the email subject line as a clickable link. Click on the subject to view the full content of the email that was sent.
Text Message Indicators
Text messages appear with "text (no subject)" in the Subject column. The "To" column will show the recipient's phone number.
Common Questions This Feature Answers
"The parent says they never got the consent email." Check the Notifications view to confirm whether an email was sent, when it was sent, and to which email address. If the email shows as sent, the parent may need to check their spam folder or verify their email address is correct.
"When was the student notified about their successful registration?" Look for the "Successful Registration" entry in the Step Title column. The "Sent at" column shows the exact date and time.
"Did the text message go through?" Text messages appear in the notification history with the recipient's phone number. If you see the entry, the system successfully sent the message.
Tips for Efficient Use
- Use filters first: Before accessing a specific registration's notifications, use the Registrations tab filters to quickly find the student you're looking for.
- Check both email and phone: If a recipient claims they didn't receive anything, check whether notifications were sent to both their email and phone number. They may have received one but not the other.
- Note the timestamps: The "Sent at" column helps you identify if notifications were sent recently or if it's been a while since the last communication.
Related Features
