Understanding High School Staff Roles in DualEnroll
DualEnroll offers different roles for high school staff to match your program's needs. The two most commonly used are:
High School Counselor
- Receives notifications about student activities
- Can review and approve registrations
- Best for staff directly managing student enrollments
- Students can select their specific counselor during application (if enabled)
High School Administrator
- Has the same access permissions as counselors
- Does not receive automatic notifications
- Ideal for program leads and principals who need oversight access
- Best for staff who want to monitor the program but don't need day-to-day notifications
Deciding Your High School User Structure
Before setting up your high school users, consider whether you want specific student-counselor associations. You can choose whether to:
- Enable specific counselor assignments (students select their counselor during application)
- Use a pool approach (any counselor can handle any student)
Factors to consider:
- Do counselors need to specifically track their assigned students?
- Does your high school prefer centralized or distributed management?
- How many staff members will be involved in the approval process?
- Who needs immediate notifications about student actions?
- Who needs access but shouldn't be overwhelmed with notifications?
- How many staff members should receive updates?
